Much awaited Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan hits more than 330 screens all over India on October 7. Pulimurugan has set the Kerala box office on fire, besides creating new collection record for a Malayalam film in the state. Pulimurugan has garnered Rs 3.96* crore on its first day (Approx), beating Mammootty’s Kasaba, which debuted at Rs 2.43 crore. The word of mouth took its business upward, with the film witnessing around 20 percent growth in its collection Saturday. If the things proceed at the same rate, Pulimurugan might emerge as the first movie from Mollywood, to touch the 100-Crore mark. However, both the audiences and media are eagerly waiting for the box office reports.
It has also surpassed the collection of Vijay’s Theri, which made Rs 3.16 crore on its opening day, besides coming close to the collection record of superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali. The Rajinikanth-starrer, which was released on over 300 screens and had 1000 plus shows, had raked in a whopping Rs 4.27 crore on its opening day.
On its very first day, Thoppil Joppan has received the overall occupancy of 45% across the country on Malayalam screens and minted the amount of 1.67 crore*. At Kerala box office, the film has received much better response and has grossed well.
